Founded by Paul Hurd, Gymnastic Britannia was created to make gymnastics accessible to everyone. We focus on removing barriers to participation by offering affordable membership options that allow clubs to grow. With a commitment to quality coaching at competitive prices, we believe everyone deserves the chance to be part of this sport.
Our Mission
Our mission is to increase participation in gymnastics while ensuring inclusivity at every level. We support clubs and coaches with a comprehensive coach education programme, providing the tools to foster inclusive environments.
Our History
Gymnastic Britannia was founded in April 2021 by Paul Hurd. By October 2021, we had welcomed our first members, from small local clubs to larger, more established ones. Our progressive membership model, including the popular ‘Spaces’ membership, has allowed us to grow steadily, with more clubs and coaches joining each year.
Paul’s journey in gymnastics coaching began in 1999 at a small club in Kent that valued supporting members to become coaches. This early experience shaped his dedication to inclusivity and fostering a strong community. Over the years, Paul has earned various coaching qualifications, along with certifications in business administration, demonstrating his drive to continuously improve.
By 2003, Paul became a full-time trampoline and gymnastics coach, working with schools, local authorities, and sports development teams to create inclusive opportunities for everyone, especially those with disabilities. His commitment to inclusivity ensures that gymnasts, whether training recreationally or competing at regional, national, or international levels, receive the best possible support.
In addition to coaching, Paul previously ran a successful inflatable hire company. This business experience has given him valuable insights that he now applies to help clubs grow financially and offer diverse opportunities, including events like parties and holiday sessions. His focus is on ensuring clubs and coaches can thrive while delivering high-quality experiences for their members.
